Where we operate

C411 Country operates across approximately 128,000 hectares of the Yarra Valley and the Dandenong Ranges – one of the most ecologically, culturally and economically significant landscapes in Victoria.

This Country is cared for by Wurundjeri and Bunurong Traditional Owners, whose knowledge, custodianship and continuing connection to land and waterways span thousands of years. C411 Country recognises this enduring care and is committed to working respectfully with Traditional Owners as the work of landscape stewardship continues.

The region is the last refuge of Victoria’s state faunal emblems – the Helmeted Honeyeater and Leadbeater’s Possum – and a stronghold for many other threatened species. Its forests, waterways and farms form a living system where biodiversity, people and production remain deeply interconnected.

The landscape is also:

  • Melbourne’s inner food bowl, supporting vineyards, orchards, vegetable farms and berry growers
  • Melbourne’s playground, drawing millions of visitors each year for nature, food, culture and recreation
  • Melbourne’s lungs, providing critical ecosystem services and climate resilience
  • A principal water catchment, underpinning the city’s long-term water security

It is also home to some of Victoria’s most visited destinations, including Healesville Sanctuary and Puffing Billy Railway, consistently ranked among the state’s top tourism attractions. At its cultural heart is Coranderrk, a place of profound significance to Wurundjeri people and to Victoria’s shared history.

C411 Country works across this entire mosaic – forests and farms, townships and waterways, public and private land – recognising that caring for nature here means caring for biodiversity, food, water, culture and community together.
